Use Gmail offline on your laptop

Posted on September 28, 2011
Google gives access to vast collection of apps on chrome web store to chrome users. Few days back, I found Offline Google mail app for chrome web browser that makes very simple to take all your mails on the go without staying connected to the internet!

You might be thinking of other options available for the same, like mail clients (Microsoft outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, Apple Mail, etc), but they are too much bulkier on your system and can suck up a ton of space on your computer.

To install the Offline Google Mail to your chrome browser follow the below instructions:

Browse Chrome Web Store > Search Offline Gmail > Click Add to Chrome
Click Install button

Select Allow offline mail > Click Continue button

Once you complete the app installation, launch the app from start page. It is little bit similar like an iPad app, let it be connected for few minutes as it saves mail for you to work with.
Now you can go offline and do whatever as you please. You can compose and send mails, read mails, archive mails anything else you'd normally do.

Your sent mails will be kept in Outbox until you reconnect to the internet. Once you reconnect to the internet the app will automatically sync all your activity and data. It's that much simple!

Check out Google's support document on deleting chrome's temporary cache.

Thanks. :)
