There are times when you need to access some specific emails frequently. For example, one of your friend sent you an important mail a year ago and you frequently need to access the same mail. One thing you can do is search every time from search box to access it. Don't you think it's cumbersome? Yes, it is.
Now, open the mail that your friend had sent to you. Click "Add Quick Link" to save a link to the message you are currently viewing. Give it a name and click OK. Now, you can access that mail with one click anytime. However, it's only available when you are using Gmail from computer not mobile. You can star it also for mobile access.
The quicker solution is to use "Quick Links" gadget from Gamil's Labs Tab. It allows you to create a shortcut to any bookmarkable URL in Gmail. Once you enable the "Quick Links" gadget and then return to your inbox, a "Quick Links" box will appear on the left-hand column.

This gadget can be used in many other ways like you can save a common Gmail search by performing a search (for example, "is:unread" -- which will enlist all your unread mails) and then click "Add Quick Link".
