Email To Evernote

Posted on October 20, 2012

You can send email right from your inbox directly to your Evernote account and also assign it to any of your existing Notebooks in Evernote. For example, you've few important emails that you need to refer frequently. There are 2 ways available to easily access the most required mails. The first is to create quick links to all those mails and the other way is to forward all those mails to your Evernote account.

The first approach is easy to use but there are some limitations with it like you repeatedly need to login into your email account to access those mails, you have to be online, too! The later approach resolves all these issues! Once you sync your Evernote App (Desktop/iOS/Android) afterwards it's also available while you are offline.

How to Email to Evernote

Evernote assigns its each user an email address like username.12345@m.evernote.com to enable receive email as notes. As mentioned earlier you can use this feature to frequently accessed mails like air tickets, health tips articles or anything else you might want to use/read later.

Follow the below steps:
  • Find your evernote email address if you don't know it yet. It can be found from The Account Info tab in Evernote desktop software for Windows and Mac, Settings in Evernote web, Sync tab on iPhone/iPad and Settings > Account Info in Android app.
  • Forward the email to your Evernote email address.
  • If you would like to place the email under the different notebook other-then the default one then append the subject line with "@" symbol followed by the name of your desired existing notebook. To add tags to the note append the subject line with "#" symbol followed by the tag name.
Example: IRCTC @Receipts #Railway
  • Though one should note that notebook name and tags are not mandatory thing. However, they should be existed in your Evernote account before you send the email.
  • If you are going to add notebook name then it should be placed before the tag names.
That's it. The following screenshot shows my railway ticket as a note in the Evernote Desktop that I forwarded from my email address.
